Title: Innovative Applications of Soft Sensors: Enhancing Prosthetics, Robotics, and Medical Devices

Abstract:

Soft sensors are being applied in a variety of fields, transforming both healthcare and robotics. This talk will cover several applications of soft sensors, including their use in hand prosthetics for improved control and feedback, in autonomous robot navigation, and in posture detection and correction systems for better ergonomic support. The versatility of soft sensors in various technological applications will also be discussed, highlighting their potential in fields such as biomechanics. These examples demonstrate the broad impact of soft sensors and their ability to bridge multiple disciplines.

Bio:

Şölen Kumbay Yıldız is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Hacettepe University. She received her B.Sc. (2003), M.Sc. (2006), and Ph.D. (2013) degrees from the same department, where she has been actively involved in teaching and research since 2004. Her research interests include control systems, modeling and system identification, soft sensor development, and ionospheric modeling. She spent a year as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Wollongong in Australia, working in the School of Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronic and Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Kumbay Yıldız currently focuses on exploring innovative applications of soft sensors in autonomous robotics and biomedical devices, alongside tracking ionospheric model parameters using spatio-temporal Kalman filtering techniques.
